Methodology How We Calculate Your Net Salary

NettoCalc calculates net salaries for 18 European countries using official government tax tables, formulas, and social contribution rates. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser no salary data is transmitted to our servers. This page explains our data sources, calculation methods, and update process for each country.

Our Approach

Official Sources Only

We use tax tables and formulas published by national tax authorities — never estimated or crowd-sourced data. Every parameter is traceable to an official government publication.

Client-Side Calculation

All calculations run locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your salary data never leaves your device. We cannot see, store, or access any personal financial information.

Annual Updates

Tax parameters are updated every January when new tax year rates take effect. Mid-year changes (e.g., minimum wage adjustments) are applied within 48 hours of official publication.

Country-by-Country Data Sources

Calculation Accuracy

Our calculators provide estimates based on standard employment assumptions. Actual net pay may vary due to individual circumstances including private health insurance, additional employer benefits, tax deductions not modeled, and regional surcharges. For Germany, our results have been verified against the official BMF Lohnsteuerrechner. For the UK, we benchmark against HMRC's Basic PAYE Tools.

We recommend using our calculators as a planning tool. For official tax filings, consult a qualified tax advisor or your national tax authority's official calculator.
